In pursuit of the weird and the wonderful...

I am blessed and cursed with insatiable curiosity, and due to my A-type personality, a constant drive to achieve. I’m always up for a challenge in pursuit of the weird and the wonderful, whether it’s competing in an Ironman 70.3 triathlon, or producing the perfect soufflé (haven’t quite got the knack of that yet).

I added an entirely new and exciting passion to my life in 2022 with the birth of my son. Raising a tiny human (or chaos goblin) has certainly been a challenge—as soon as you feel like you might have a grasp at what's happening and how things work, they go and change everything on you. Kind of like AI trends or the latest photoshop update.

Prioritizing a steady balance between work and life is key, as I believe that a satisfying life inspires and drives more satisfying and meaningful work. Work Life balance certainly got much more complicated once having a child, but with a fantastic support system, and clearly set boundaries, we are figuring it out day by day.

A creative outlet can be found in all passions, and I’ve realized gratifying returns on my investment in gaming (RPGs specifically), gardening, and reading (fantasy, mystery and manga predominantly) amongst so many other things. I get to see the world with new eyes through my son, which has only heightened my focus on the weird and the wonderful. Living with a toddler has certainly strengthened my patience and resolve, improved my time management, forced me to accept delegating as a necessity, honed my client relationship skills, and helped me celebrate glorious chaotic creativity even if it doesn't stay within the lines.

Of the growing number of my interests and passions, these are just a few

Gaming

Reading

Triathlon

Cooking

Gardening

Skiing

It may be hard to believe that triathlon could be considered a creative outlet, but some of my best creative concepts and strategy have been generated on training runs and long rides. Swimming hasn’t proved as productive, as too much of my energies are devoted to not drowning. But overall, triathlon and racing has proved integral to my character development – learning to endure hardship, attainable goal setting with planned training to achieve those goals, and pushing beyond what I thought was possible.

Life is the best grist for the mill of the mind, which is why you’ll always find me on the move, buzzing towards my next goal, exploring new trails, and probably picking up a couple new interests along the way.
